The uniqueness of Oktyabrskaya Street

The uniqueness of Oktyabrskaya Street

One of our hotel's main advantages is its location. Willing Hotel is located at the intersection of Lenin Street and Oktyabrskaya Street.

Oktyabrskaya Street used to be one of the industrial centers of Minsk. The industrial zone, forgotten by everyone in the 90s, is now the center of attraction for tourists and Minsk youth.

The street's origin history is simple; a deserted place and the river flowing nearby was the ideal place to build a shop or factory, which subsequently appeared there. The first factory on the street was a yeast distillery producing alcohol and yeast. Brothers Yankel Rakovschik and Zelman Rakovschik constructed the building in the late 19th century. Later, the Minsk Crystal factory appeared on the opposite street. It belonged to the same Rakovschik brothers and was storage for wine products. In 1895, the building at 25, Oktyabrskaya Street, the current location of cafes Lavka, Enzo, and Depo, housed tanneries of Rubin, Salman, Goltberg, Den, and Improt. Three years after Stalin came to power, the factory was renamed Bolshevik and had a new machine hall. In 1988, the plant closed because of the odor emitted to the town. Nowadays, the building is rented out for bars and offices.

The most iconic building on the street is the Minsk Machine-Tool Plant named after the October Revolution. This enterprise was one of the largest in the Belarusian USSR. Nowadays, the plant is partly in operation. Since 2010, it rents out about half of its premises.

The Willing Hotel was built at the intersection of Lenin Street and Oktyabrskaya Street, which looks very much like a factory, thereby following the loft style of Oktyabrskaya Street. The hotel began its work in 2017 and has already become one of the most popular in Minsk and Belarus.

Until 2010, nobody lived here for a long time except students from local dormitories and factory workers. Since 2010, Oktyabrskaya Street began its transformation.

The first step in the street's development was the Znata photo studio's appearance, thanks to the factories' walls and the atmosphere. Other companies gradually began to move to Oktyabrskaya Street, such as photo studios, design studios, creative spaces, etc.

A few more years later, various establishments for youth began to open here, including Cafe New Town, Cafe Enzo, Hooligan's Bar, and many others.

In 2017, with the advent of Willing Hotel, this place began to attract Minsk residents and tourists from all over the CIS.

Now, this street is one of the most popular in Eastern Europe.
