How to Travel with a Pet: Tips for a Comfortable Vacation

Traveling with a pet

Traveling with pets is no longer a rarity—today it's a lifestyle where your four-legged friend becomes a full-fledged participant in your adventures. A vacation without separation from your pet relieves anxiety and creates new experiences for both of you. Willing Hotel embraces this philosophy: we've created conditions to make guests with small pets feel right at home.

Preparing for your trip: what to consider

Traveling with a pet begins long before the trip. To avoid surprises, it's important to think through every detail.

What to check before leaving:

1. Transportation regulations. For a car, a special carrier or seat belt; for a train, a health certificate; for an airplane, the airline's requirements for the carrier's weight and size.

2. Documents: A veterinary passport with vaccination records (rabies and a combined vaccine are mandatory), a microchip or tattoo.

3. Pet baggage:

  • Food and treats for 2-3 days,
  • collapsible bowls, a familiar bed or blanket,
  • and stress-relieving toys.

If you're flying, check with the airline about the carrier's dimensions. For small dogs and cats, dimensions up to 40x30x20 cm are acceptable.

How to get there with a pet: convenient options

Traveling with a pet

The choice of transportation depends on the pet's personality and the distance of the trip. It's important to consider that traveling with a pet can cause varying levels of discomfort for both owners and fellow travelers. The animal itself may also find some modes of transportation more comfortable than others.

By car

Take breaks every 2-3 hours to allow your pet to stretch. Always use a harness or carrier—sudden braking can be dangerous for your pet. Turn on the air conditioning in hot weather, and warm up the interior in winter.

On public transport

Pets are transported in carriers on trains and buses. Check in advance whether pets are allowed in the cabin. For example, small animals can travel free on Belarusian commuter trains as long as they don't take up space.

Air travel

Most airlines only allow animals up to 8 kg to be transported in the cabin. Larger pets can be transported in the hold, but this can be stressful for them. Find out the documentation requirements in advance and get your pet used to the carrier a month before your flight.

Comfortable stay with your pet in our hotel

Comfortable living with a petWilling Hotel рад гостям с животными

The Willing Hotel welcomes guests with pets, but to ensure the comfort of all guests, we have established the following rules:

Permitted: cats, dogs weighing up to 5 kg, birds, and rodents (in cages). Documentation: veterinary passport or vaccination certificate. Important: Pets should not be left alone in the room to prevent stress and barking.

The nearest veterinary pharmacy is within walking distance of the hotel (5 Stadionnaya Street, near Dynamo Stadium).

Walks and entertainment for your pet

Bicycle path along the Svisloch

Minsk is a city where even four-legged guests will find something to enjoy. The bike path along the Svisloch River offers many new and interesting experiences in the city's central district. Enjoy a stroll at a light jog or a leisurely walk with your pet.

We recommend visiting the pet-friendly cafe on Oktyabrskaya Street. Several establishments welcome small pets, especially dogs.

Chelyuskintsev Park

Take a stroll in Chelyuskintsev Park. Its wide paths and minimal crowds make it ideal for a secluded walk with your dog.

Useful tips for a comfortable stay

Adapting your pet to a new place takes time. Make it gentle:

1. Create a familiar atmosphere. Arrange bowls and toys just like you would at home.

2. Use pheromones. Sprays or collars with calming ingredients will relieve anxiety.

3. Walks before bedtime. A tired pet will fall asleep faster in a new place.

4. Etiquette rules: Avoid barking in the hallways, and clean up after your pet during walks.

5. Emergency contact. Save the number of a veterinary pharmacy and a taxi service that transports pets.

If your pet is nervous, play soft music or give them a favorite toy. The hotel staff is always ready to help with advice.

A stay with your pet at the Willing Hotel isn't a fad; it's an opportunity to share the joy of discovery with your loved one.
